We are delighted that you are considering getting married at St Giles’ or St George's church
Every wedding is a special occasion and you are warmly invited to contact us about marriage at one of our churches. We are delighted to spend time with couples preparing for their ‘big day’.

Here is some useful background information
  • Couples are eligible to be married in the Parish if one or both parties meet one of the following requirements
  • Bride or groom was baptised in the Parish
  • Bride or groom was confirmed in the Parish
  • Bride, groom or parent has at any time resided in the Parish for at least 6 months
  • Bride, groom or parent has at any time habitually attended public worship in the Parish for at least 6 months
  • A parent or grandparent was married in the Parish 
 
Your first steps
  • Please contact our Administrator for Weddings, Karen Goodridge, at the Parish Office. Tel 01372 813332 or email parish.office@ashteadparish.org
  • Each couple will be given an appointment with a member of our experienced clergy team. That person will explain the process and help you plan this special occasion. 
  • We require all couples to attend a Marriage Preparation Course which is usually held on two consecutive Saturday mornings. This nationally recognised course helps couples to learn about marriage, how to get the most out of it and is practical and fun!

  • Three months before the wedding, couples will meet with the Denise Newman, our Rectors Clerk to go through legal matters including arranging banns and licence procedures. denise.newman@ashteadparish.org

Remarriage after divorce
We welcome enquiries from couples wishing to remarry after divorce.
 
Marriage with children
We are happy to marry couples who already have children and, if appropriate, the children can be involved in the service.
 
Civil Weddings
Church of England guidelines do not permit us to conduct civil weddings.
 
Wedding fees
The statutory wedding fee is £456 (2017) which does not include any optional extras e.g. organist, choir, bells.
